A good reminder when dealing with a defiant toddler. “Obedient” may not be the best trait to try to instill in our kids.
The problem with claiming that the civil war was about states’ rights and not slavery, is that the very notion that it should be up to each state to decide whether it’s ok to own people is just plain horrifying and wrong.

I know a few people who work with troubled youth. Their training included learning how to physically restrain a child or teen who was getting violent, without hurting them— just holding them in a way that they can’t lash out and hurt themselves or others.
Do police officers not get this training? I guess now it’s just policy to head straight to pepper spray, tazers, etc right...
